Who does Superintendent Weis blame for this? He blames normal people who, in his opinion, are not mentally-equipped to deal with the rigors of owning a firearm. Weis recently pointed to a shooting that occurred over a card game, citing it as an example of, ”the dangers of having a weapon inside of a home with folks who in my opinion do not have the emotional maturity and stability to have such a weapon inside the house.”
Thank goodness Jody Weis is here to tell us that we, the common citizens, are too stupid to know when to use and not use a handgun in dispute management. If only we could clone him a few million times and put a little Jody in every kitchen on the South Side, then surely we would curtail all gun violence in the city.
Thank you, Superintent Weis, for making a joke of a very sad situation.
The guns have nothing to do with the violence. The violence is the issue, and the violence stems from the intense gang activity in Chicago. Gangs popularize the use of guns, making it nearly impossible to exist in a gang-dominated neighborhood without possessing a firearm.
Every professional police department has a data base of every gang member in its community. The gang members are happy and proud to declare themselves which gang they represent. So why isn’t Chicago actually doing something about them? Years ago in Cicero we addressed the gang issue by the officer in the area program.
Get some of the lower level gangbangers and use the RICO Act to go after the whole structure. For those of you unfamiliar with the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act, it is a federal law that allows for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization. So, if a prosecutor can prove that a particular street gang exists and can identify the members of this gang, then he can use any crime committed by a gang member against all the members of the gang. In 2005 this law was used in Florida to round up most of the statewide leadership of the Latin Kings. In Chicago, Operation Family Secrets utilized RICO to take down most of the senior leadership of the Chicago Outfit. Obviously we know how to use RICO in Chicago, so why are prosecutors so busy dealing with Blago and not the gangs?

If guns are to blame for murder, why do we prosecute humans for murder? It is the guns fault.
That is a very good point 😉
What will Baby Huey/ King Daley do now that the SC has ruled that all American have a right to bear arms?
Oh and Democrat Senator Robert Byrd and former Klan leader – yes that (KKK) Klan has passed on – what a great day gun rights affirmed for all Americans and a racist Democrat has died!
The chances that a gun owner might actually use his gun on a criminal are nearly the same as a meteor falling on your house. Why aren’t we all building protective structures around our houses that prevent meteors?
This isn’t the wild west…maybe citizens shooting it out with eachother like cowboys sounds appealing to you, but not me. CPD stats indicate that most guns picked up from gangbangers had been stolen from legal owners…where else do you think they come from?
Take away the supply, eventually demand might fall. Much rather see gang bangers battling with bats and sticks then guns…quite obvious we would have less homicides and stray fire killing innocents.
I also enjoy your tales of “reform” in Cicero.
Dear Logic,
I cannot answer your question, “Why aren’t we all building protective structures around our houses that prevent meteors?” However, I can state with certainty that homeowners have the right to build bomb shelters on their property if they have enough land.
Regarding your statement, “Take away the supply, eventually demand might fall,” personally, I am unable to wait 100-years.
Logic you are obviously a liberal and a cantankerous one. Why? Your party controls Congress and has the White House yet you are unhappy because the SC is upholding the Constitution with regards to the Second Amendment. You can create all the ridiculous scenarios you want but as Americans we have the right to defend our property with guns if we chose. I am unsure where this utopian society is where we citizens are to wait out those wishing us violence rather than actively defend our property and family. Sorry America/the Consitution 1 Creepy unhappy liberals 0 and just in time for the 4 of July. Happy Birthday America!!!
Dear “Why The Misery”–I decline to identify myself as one specific party and find your partisan inuendos frankly imature. Are you aware the second ammendment was passed when Americans were living on the frontier killing hostile natives and fur trappers? Long before the days of “gangs” “Jewel” or “Police.” While I recognize the country is not a utopian society, I also am aware that it isn’t the parnoid war zone that justifies the right of citizens to walk around armed with guns…I strongly encourage each of you who desire this sort of society to move to Afghanistan where you can play “Cowboy” all you want and not affect myself or my family.
The old “liberty” and “freedom” talk is also becoming old…I wonder what our forefathers would think of these ideals and values they created becoming solely based on “guns.” The NRA was quite clever to align itself with the undereducated, over-religious right to be able to defend their industry and earnings with “liberty” and “god.” If only Goldman Sachs were as smart, we might be calling securities-backed derivatives “what our forefathers wanted” or the ability of investment banks to make poor investment decisions without consequences “liberty.”
You may not wish to identify yourself as a liberal/progressive/wealth redistributitionist etc however it is painfully obviously – you are your comments and language speak volumes. Really “liberty and freedom” talk is becoming old, um I bet you really miss the old Soviet Union don’t you. This will be my last comment directed at you as I do not waste time engaging a drone. I leave you with this “we will remember in November!”
Dear Joe–what evidence do you have that states it would take 100 years to dry up the grey market for guns?
I would actually believe that with the proper enforcement and overall campaign, 10 years out to do it. Can you wait that long for a better country?
Dear Logic,
What evidence do you have that states it would not take 100-years to dry up the grey market for guns? I am not willing to wait 10-years.
Dear Joe-
Read my name. “Logic” tells us that by drying up the market, the demand eventually will subside. Its hard to enforce a gun ban when criminals can easily step outside city limits to buy guns and the many of those within city limits still own them illeagaly. I encourage you to review ATF and FBI stats discussing where criminals buy guns. In fact, Mexican drug cartels have their weapons shipped from the US because its much easier to get a gun here. Imagine that.
Your confidant Betty Loren-Maltese would like to take a page from her old nemesis’ playbook and use RICO against gangbangers. Use RICO against 16 and 17 year olds? Or take away their easy-access to guns? What sounds more humane, logical and cheaper for taxpayers?
Now gun owners I ask you this: What are the odds of you using that gun against an actual criminals, vs. the odds that a child, relative or burglar takes that gun and hurts an innocent human being?
Logic. If this nation used a little more, we might be a better country.
Dear Logic,
There comes a time when you have to face reality. Your side lost (as I predicted). The case has been heard and now it is over. Bla Bla Bla
Dear Joe-
There comes a time when you simply run out of evidence to continue your argument and usually that is evident when you say “we won, you lost, end of story.” Luckily, the democratic process in this nation allows us to appeal, reform and perfect legislation regulating this society, and it will. Logic always wins above idealogy.
Dear Logic,
Promise we will not hear back from you on this issue until the appeal is final (I predict the appeal will fail the City of Chicago).
Sorry Joe…I plan to stick around..you and Betty are just too engaging.
Why the misery–Soviet Union? Ha. The paranoia of the pro-gun right speaks volumes about as to why the mentally unstable should not be owning firearms.
Exactly who is arguing that the mentally unstable should own fire arms? I would be happy if the mentally unstable were not allowed to use the internet and make comments but that’s just me! And I don’t get how the left just can’t wait to kill the unborn (Ie Obama care – free taxpayer funded abortions for everyone) but the living protecting their families and property from crime is some alien concept or a ridiculous idea from another century.
Dear readers,
“Logic” admitted he’s a troll with the above statement.
(29 June 2010 at 2:30 pm).
Sorry Brietbart…can’t edit your way out. Anyone can scroll up and see I’m directly responding to Joe. I’m flattered you’ve taken time to review ALL my comments over the past 6 months on this website searching for a conspiracy. 😉
Dear misery can you see November from your house?
Every morning from my house I see an American Flag and the rising sun – November is always on my mind.
Law abiding gun owners do control and prevent some crimes, but it recently failed to work for Chicago police officer Thor Soderberg whose gun was taken away from him and used by a criminal to kill Officer Soderberg.

Dear IP Address 66.251.244.218,
I thought it was understood that I was never an actual labor arbitrator; I have never stated that I was. In fact, I explain it in detail here: http://americannewspost.com/?p=66
Yes, my finances are somewhat compromised right now. You are asking me why my finances are compromised. Ask John and Peter DiFronzo, Rudy Fratto, Jack P. Cerone, Esq., and Joseph L. Giacchino, Jr.
As to the voice mails that I left Jack P. Cerone, Esq., regarding the threats on my life that he played a part in, you may read the court transcripts, which detail the voicemails, here: http://americannewspost.com/?p=278
In addition, you may access this article, http://americannewspost.com/?p=819, which provides a very clear understanding of the details pertaining to the voicemails that you have mentioned. Thank you.
