By the grace of God, they had no success in capturing him. I am proud to report that the Writer did not sustain any serious physical injury, but he did ultimately suffer a catastrophic business loss as a direct result of the Daddono attack.
At 4:17 PM, the Writer dialed 9-1-1 from his safe location and reported the incident. Minutes later Forest Park Police officers arrived and found the Writer. It seemed that all should have been well, but the trouble was not over.
Immediately upon interviewing the Writer, the officers began questioning him about unrelated issues alleged to have occurred many years ago. It would later be purported that Daddono mentioned these issues to the officers as they entered the public establishment. The Writer had no knowledge of the unrelated subject matter. I will not be including any specifics in this article as the specious accusations lack any relevance to the issue at hand.
Once the police backed off the bizarre and inappropriate questioning, one of the officers asked a manager if she wanted to sign a criminal complaint against the Writer for taking cover in a back room not meant for public use. The manager refused to sign a complaint.
This is where things truly go sideways. Apparently a number of employees who make their living working in this public establishment (owned by a close friend of Mayor Caldrone) told police that the Writer was not chased, or that he was not seen being chased. Therefore, the Writer was asked to leave and told by the police not to come back.
A short number of days after the incident Forest Park Police Chief Jim Ryan and the Writer had contact and it was made clear there is currently an investigation in the matter. Some eye-witnesses who saw the chase that the Writer reported were not questioned by police at the time of incident, nor have they been contacted since.
