In With The New Name, Out With The Old Statute… Hopefully!

Welcome to the American News Post (ANP), the new name of KTF Media Group. Under our new moniker we look forward to bringing you news that no other media outlets have the ability to deliver.

The name KTF Media Group, which stood for Keys To Faith, was chosen at a time when the Roman Catholic Church was our primary focus. However, after a review of Cardinal George and Bishop Goedert’s depositions on child sex abuse cases in the church – coupled with the recent controversy involving the Pope – we decided to focus on current world affairs instead of Catholicism. I think Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke would understand our decision quite well.

So, in the spirit of out with the old and in with the new, it is fitting that as we ring in our new name we also hope for the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the honest services statute.

Below is an NBC broadcast of an interview largely on the topic of the honest services statute. Our editor Alex Sharp and literary contributor Betty Loren-Maltese did a fine job telling the world about our new name and shedding an important spotlight on the worst American law in the books.

A recent article by the National Post offers an excellent insight on how the government has used the Honest Services statute to turn potentially unethical conduct in a serious criminal act. Please read the article by the National Post here.

No matter what the name, we have strived for years to bring the local Chicago news to you and the rest of the world. It is our pledge to cover a great deal more of America’s news and the world’s news for many years to come. Our future is your news.

Why didn’t Joe Fosco appear? Joe, when are you going to write more about the Outfit?

    • Joseph Fosco on

      Dear Mr. Shimmer,
Simply, I was not in the mood to be on television that day. Yes, I plan on writing about the Outfit. Ruddy will be going away on July 1, 2010. Perhaps that will spark a few thoughts to share.

  2. I would argue that the legal system needs to return to the rule of law rather than change meaning not enacting flimsy laws like the so called honest services which was clearly written for overzealous prosecutors that lack evidence.
