The old adage goes, never mix religion with politics (wish me luck). As we draw closer to Election Day the tensions mount. For the first time, America has nominated someone with immediate African lineage. I was hoping that the Democrats would have nominated Hillary Clinton, as I believe she is the better candidate. And I would have hoped a full-blooded African-American could have been our first African-American Presidential Nominee. I think the African-American race has most definitely earned the right to have the ‘total package’. I refuse to believe that Democrats are inferring that a full-blooded African-American does not stand a reasonable chance to win the Presidency of the United States of America.
Chicago is home to a number of great African-Americans who have prevailed in their professions: Oprah, Michael Jordan, Harold Washington and Rev. Jesse Jackson, just to name a few. I am compelled to add another Chicagoan, who would have an honorary place on this prestigious list, Father Michael Pfleger(surely, the late Cardinal Cody would be proud of him).
