Roe V. Raed: The First Presidential Debate

The true victory for Obama comes from the fruits of this 90-minute revisionist history lovefest. Romney railed against the fact that his budget plans include a 5 trillion dollar tax cut, which is plainly true (so much for fiscal responsibility). He said he would not cut taxes on the mega rich – a boldfaced lie. 23 million people are unemployed or have stopped looking for work? That might be possible – if you multiply the real number by two.. Romney’s non-Obamacare federal health plan will cover pre-existing conditions? No it won’t, at least according to Romney advisor Eric Fehrnstrom.

I won’t even go into the stupidity necessary to buy into Romney’s resurrection of that timeless Sarah Palin chestnut of death panels.

What we saw Wednesday night was some operative’s dream of a centrist Mitt Romney, a man that could actually appeal to undecided voters. How shocked President Obama must have been that night, confronted with the mountain of contradictions and incongruences in a suit and tie standing next to him? Given the fact that he was not actually debating the real Mitt Romney, the president did the best thing he could do. He sat back in the cut, cool and collected, and let Mitt spin his newest litany of contradictions. Why? Because President Obama is savvy enough to know that Mitt’s supposed win of this battle will actually cost him the whole war.
