The normally bombastic Meeks declined to file his signatures on Monday morning in order to avoid the first day ‘circus’ at 69 West Washington. Funny, as I have never seen Meeks lose out on a chance to be in the spotlight.
Wilfredo De Jesus
The Reverend Wilfredo De Jesus is capo di tutti capi of the New Life Covenant Church located in Humbolt Park. He is the Pentecostal answer to Reverend Meeks. This makes two fundamentalist goofs running for Mayor.
His previous foray into politics was a spectacular failure to pick up 6th Ward Alderman Billy Ocasio’s seat, despite the fact that Ocasio recommended the Rev for the job. Evidently Pastor “Choco” (I didn’t make that name up – his own parishioners call him that) is viewed as anti-gay and that doesn’t fly all that well on Chicago North Side. In 2008 De Jesus led a coalition of clergy members that worked to end a proposed high school for gay students. De Jesus claims his motivation for leading this coalition was out of his moral outage that such segregation would be condoned by the city.
When asked what qualified him to be the next King of Chicago, De Jesus replied that god ‘qualified’ him.
Hey, I thought Daley wasn’t doing any endorsements…

Well, that’s all the candidates so far. On a personal note, I would like to thank all of Chicago’s mental hospitals for letting the inmates sign petitions this year, even though I can’t find any proof they actually did so. How else can you explain the existence of so many of the criminally insane around to sign petitions to let some of these candidates file to run for mayor?

I wonder can two people claim the same residence in their run for mayor?
