Massachusetts Votes For Democracy, Not The DNC

I applaud them for standing up for their principals. Loyalty to a political party should never trump personal belief. The conduct of the voters of Massachusetts is a credit to the ideals of American democracy. Some moan that Massachusetts has betrayed Ted Kennedy, the supposed ‘Lion’ of the Senate, as health care reform was his life-long ambition. This is a despicable thing to think. Those brave citizens have insured for the rest of the nation that an actual debate on the scope of health care reform will be bipartisan, not the mockery of free-thinking debate that is currently masquerading as consensus. They proved that proper political process, the sharing of ideas in the crafting of policy, is more important than the memory of a deceased Senator.

I think you would be hard-pressed to find a man or woman who thinks we as a nation do not need to reform our system, but the current legislation is not the answer. Let the people of Massachusetts instruct us in the shortcomings of their universal health care debacle, so we might move forward will a plan that can accomplish the goal of intelligent and feasible health care reform.
